Strong winds today with few birds flying around. Quite a few Harriers have arrived to the island and keep flying low in search of prey. A strange combination of species today! Winter birds still dominant but with a small influx of Ficedula flycatchers. The bird of the day was a Common Firecrest (Regulus ignicapilla, Πυροβασιλίσκος) a species extremely rare during the spring season! Spring 2017, Day 2 of bird ringing

The wind slowed down for a while and that was evident tin the ringing totals. In total 59 birds of 11 species with the Subalpine Warbler (Sylvia cantillans, Κοκκινοτσιροβάκος) being the most abundant species ringed and seen in the filed.  More info at http://www.trektellen.org/count/view/1696/20170327  

Spring 2017, Day 1 of bird ringing

Quite windy today and chilly today despite the worm and sunny day yesterday. Mostly winter birds around with the Common Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita, Δεντροφυλλοσκόπος) being the most common species. In total we got 21 birds of 9 Species. More info here
