Volunteering at Antikythira

Rain and wind have the upper hand these days allowing only few time for ringing in between. Not much to do appart from watching the Sparrowhawks hunting the finches.

Spring season is over now, most of the birds are already northern, we can hardly see or hear anything. We ‘ll be back in late August to keep on doing what we are doing.  A big thanks for visiting and a special thanks to those who passed by helping during the last 64 days.

Strong winds welcomed us the first day of planned ringing! As no ringing could take place we visited a known roosting site of Barn Owl Tyto alba to collect pellets. Better weather is expected because we are really eager to catch our first birds.

Spring season is open for A.B.O. Tomorrow we are going to set our nets in the valley, man a watchpoint, and we ‘ll get back to you in the following days with what we catch  and what we see.
