Spring 2017, Day 9 of bird ringing

A strange combination of species today! Winter birds still dominant but with a small influx of Ficedula flycatchers. The bird of the day was a Common Firecrest (Regulus ignicapilla, Πυροβασιλίσκος) a species extremely rare during the spring season! Spring 2017, Day 2 of bird ringing

The wind slowed down for a while and that was evident tin the ringing totals. In total 59 birds of 11 species with the Subalpine Warbler (Sylvia cantillans, Κοκκινοτσιροβάκος) being the most abundant species ringed and seen in the filed.  More info at

A really hot day today with significantly less bids, around 60 in the constant effort site. The Garden Warbler (Sylvia borin, Κηποτσιροβάκος) is still the most common species by far being half of the birds trapped. Daily totals can be found here:

Garden warblers are reaching their peak with more of the half ringed today belonging to them. Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata, Σταχτομυγοχάφτης) are all around the place are was the second most common species at the ringing table. The weather have been exceptionally unsteady this season and once more we could not set up nets for two consecutive days. After 2 day off we had a nice day today. 90 birds, at the constant effort site, of 19 species. The most common species were the Garden Warbler (Sylvia borin, Κηποτσιροβάκος) and the Wood Warbler (Phylloscopus sibilatrix, Δασοφυλλοσκόπος). Daily totals can be found here:
