White Wagtail and Short-toed Lark

 White Wagtail (Motacilla alba) and Short-toed Lark (Calandrella brachydactyla) the new species in the nets today.

Sparrowhawk

This juvenile female Sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus) was caught at dawn.

The juvenile bird of the photo is the first Short-Toed Eagle (Circaetus gallicus) of this fall. Very few Lesser Spotted Eagles (Aquila pomarina) appear in the sky and like the one of the second photo they pass realy high.

Cuckoo

This juvenile bird is the first Cuckoo (Cuculus canorus) of the season.

First Robin

The first Robin (Erithacus rubecula) of the season.

Levant Sparrowhawk and Hobby

At nightfall two more new species for this autumn. Levant Sparrowhawk (Accipiter brevipes) (first seasonal observation yesterday) and Hobby.Both imature birds.

Yellow Wagtail and Turtle Dove

 Yellow Wagtail (Motacilla flava) and Turtle Dove (Streptopelia turtur) are the new birds in the nets for today. Both species have been around long before we catch them.

Black-Eared Wheatear

The Black-Eared Wheatear (Oenanthe hispanica) is one of the four Oenanthe species one can watch in Antikythira during migration. The other three are: Wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe), Isabelline Wheatear (Oenanthe isabellina) and Desert Wheatear (Oenanthe deserti).

Nightjar

The first Nightjar (Caprimulgus europaeus) of the season very early this morning.
