Little Egrets
A flock of Little Egrets Ergretta garzetta is resting on Thymonies, three rocky islets nearby the NE coast of Antikythira. Thrush Nightingale and Whinchat
Thrush Nightingale Luscinia luscinia and Whinchat Saxicola rubetra the new species that ringed today. The Death’s Head Hawkmoth Acherontia atropos was also trapped in one of the nets. Nightingale
The Nightingale Luscinia megarhynchos is the new species in our nets in a rather poor day. Barn Swallows Hirundo rustica made their first appearence in our sky. Other species ringed today: Garden Warbler Sylvia borin Icterine Warbler Hippolais icterina Spotted Flycatcher Muscicapa striata

Reed Warbler Acrocephalus scirpaceus and Icterine Warbler Hippolais icterina are the new species in our nets today. Ringing Day 1

Honey Buzzards
It seems that passage started, at least for Honey Buzzards Pernis apivorus. They appeared at late afternoon, together with smoke from Attica fires, in flocks up to 85 birds, 230 of them the total number of the day. Other raptors species: Black Kite Milvus migrans Marsh Harrier Circus Aeruginosus Sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus

Autumn update
Migration is still slow, we are getting ready though. Mist nest have already been set in the valley waiting for the wind to drop and a watcher is looking for passing by raptors however there is no passage yet. In the meantime a Black-winged Stilt Himantopus himantopus take it’s time at the port.
