A early morning treat!
Today was another quiet day (around 30 birds). A Harrier in our nets
This Western Marsh Harrier (Circus aeruginosus, Καλαμόκιρκος) was chasing the Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator, Κοκκινοκεφαλάς) on the picture in the previous post, which was chasing a Robin. Three new species for this season!
Apart from the Marsh Harrier as seen in the post above, today we had our first Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator, Κοκκινοκεφαλάς) and our first Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca, Μαυρομυγοχάφτης). Bluethroat!
We proudly present to you a Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica, Γαλαζολαίμης) that was trapped in our mist nets today. Bluethroats are rare in Greece and the individual ringed today was the second one ringed by ABO. The previous one was ringed during autumn 2006.

A Wheatear and a Whitethroat
One Common Whitethroat (Sylvia communis, Θαμνοτσιροβάκος) and a Northern Wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe, Σταχτοπετρόκλης) are the two new species trapped today.
