Today was a nice ringing day! We trapped 26 birds of 11 different species three of which were new for this season: Eurasian Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus, Καλαμοποταμίδα), Eurasian Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla, Μαυροσκούφης) and Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator, Κοκκινοκεφαλάς). Garden Warbler (Sylvia borin, Κηποτσιροβάκος) and Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus, Θαμνοφυλλοσκόπος) were the most common species. […]

Today we opened nets as the wind wasn’t as strong as yesterday. We didn’t’ have many birds but nevertheless we had quite variety of species: 14 birds of seven different species, not bad at all!!! Today Eolos (the Greek God of wind) showed no mercy with us poor ringers, so we had to close the nets after one hour and no birds. Let’s see if tomorrow he will be more sympathetic with us…

Today we had a calm and very very hot morning. We trapped only five birds of three different species. Today we trapped again 18 birds but of more different species than the last days, 9 species, Two of them were new for this season, Collared Flycatcher (Ficedula albicollis, Κρικομυγοχάφτης) and Marsh Warbler (Acrocephalus palustris, Βαλτοποταμίδα).
