A slow day today with merely 35 birds ringed. Day 23 of ringing, Spring 2015
Yesterday south wind seems to have helped the birds to leave the island. In total we trapped more than 40 birds. During the afternoon it seems that a new wave of Common Kestrels (Falco tinnunculus, Βραχοκιρκίνεζο) and European Turtle Doves (Streptopelia turtur, Τρυγόνι) appeared. Day 22 of ringing, Spring 2015 – Wind again
The day started with no wind what so ever but soon the wind turned strong. The first net round included once more, a lot of Eurasian Golden Oriole (Oriolus oriolus, Συκοφάγος)(15 today). Day 21 of ringing, Spring 2015 – Two new arrivals and another raptor in the nets.
A sunny nice day with 70 birds today. The new species of the season were the Eastern Olivaceous Warbler (Iduna pallida, Ωχροστριτσίδα) Icterine Warbler (Hippolais icterina, Κιτρινοστριτσίδα). Day 20 of ringing, Spring 2015 – Windy day
We managed to ring only for a couple of net rounds before it became too windy. In the end we managed to ring 19 birds. Day 18 of ringing, Spring 2015 – A Wood Warbler day
The day starting with practically no wind but progressively it build up. Nevertheless we ringed around 80 birds and 1/3 of them were Wood Warbler (Phylloscopus sibilatrix, Δασοφυλλοσκόπος). Day 16 of ringing, Spring 2015 – A full day.
The first really busy day today with 120 birds! The day started with a Eurasian Scops Owl (Otus scops, Γκιώνης) and a European Nightjar (Caprimulgus europaeus, Γιδοβύζι).
