Apart from species that are around this days like Garden Warbler (Sylvia borin, Κηποτσιροβάκος), Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata, Σταχτομυγοχάφτης), […]

Day 40 of ringing, Spring 2015 – Still having fun
A fun, hot day that started with European Nightjar (Caprimulgus europaeus, Γιδοβύζι). Already form the first net round it was evident that a new wave of Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata, Σταχτομυγοχάφτης) and Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator, Κοκκινοκεφαλάς) had arrived. Those two species were the most abundant though out the day. We also had a local […]

Day 37 of ringing, Spring 2015
We are approaching the end of the season and there are not a lot of birds around. Furthermore yesterday’s night southern winds helped the birds to overcome Antikythira. We might not have a lot of birds (less than 20) but we had some nice species as European Turtle Dove (Streptopelia turtur, Τρυγόνι), European Bee-eater (Merops apiaster, […]
