The first rarity / Day 2 of Ringing

The season seems to have started well! We got our first Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica, Γαλαζολαίμης; photo 1) for the season, which is a rarity in Greece.  To keep up with last spring record we need 4 more rarities! A new species for the season was the Lesser Whitethroat (Sylvia curruca, Βουνοτσιροβάκος; photo 2) and the Blackbird (Turdus merula, Κότσυφας) while the most abundant species for today was the Subalpine Warblers (Sylvia cantillans, Κοκκινοτσιροβάκος).

Other species trapped today

Robin (Erithacus rubecula, Κοκκινολαίμης), Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla, Μαυροσκούφης), Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita, Δεντροφυλλοσκόπος), Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus, Θαμνοφυλλοσκόπος).
