Wind and new arrivals / Day 3 of Ringing

The weather was sunny and calm during the first days and made me to forget that it is usually cloudy and wind during March, as today. The north wind though brought us three  new species for the season :   Savi’s Warblers (Locustella luscinioides, Καλαμοτριλιστής; photo 1), Nightingales (Luscinia megarhynchos, Αηδόνι) and a Sand Martin (Riparia riparia, Οχθοχελίδονο). Overall part from the new species it was a slow day. We hope that the wind fades tomorrow.

Other species trapped:

Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos, Τσίχλα), Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita, Δεντροφυλλοσκόπος), Subalpine Warbler (Sylvia cantillans, Κοκκινοτσιροβάκος)

Last but not least we observed our first Semi-collared Flycatcher (Ficedula semitorquata, Δρυομυγοχάφτης)!
