Back in business and new arrivals / Day 7 of ringing
The weather was good as predicted. The first net round we got only Robins (Erithacus rubecula, Κοκκινολαίμης), Chiffchaffs (Phylloscopus collybita, Δεντροφυλλοσκόπος) and Blackcaps (Sylvia atricapilla, Μαυροσκούφης) making it feel more like autumn than spring. Later on though we got out new arrivals for the seasons. In other words we got our first Marsh Warbler (Acrocephalus palustris, Βαλτοποταμίδα), Redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus, Φοινίκουρος) and Black-eared Wheatear (Oenanthe hispanica, Ασπροκωλίνα). Redstart had been observed two days ago while Black-eared Wheatear was observed only yesterday. We also got out first Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs, Σπίνος).
Other species trapped today:
Hoopoe (Upupa epops, Τσαλαπετεινός), Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus, Θαμνοφυλλοσκόπος), Nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos, Αηδόνι), Lesser Whitethroat (Sylvia curruca, Βουνοτσιροβάκος), Subalpine Warbler (Sylvia cantillans, Κοκκινοτσιροβάκος), Winter Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes, Τρυποφράχτης), Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos, Τσίχλα)
