Some old friends / day 56 of ringing

The weather was not in our side for another time. The strong winds made us close the nets after a couple of nets rounds but up to them we had ringed around 70 birds. Some species that were common in the beginning of the season as the Hoopoe (Upupa epops, Τσαλαπετεινός) and Redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus, Φοινίκουρος) reareared and found their way to the nets. European Bee-eater (Merops apiaster, Μελισσοφάγος) is still passing but in smaller numbers and lucky for us some of them are still trapped.

Other species trapped today:

Turtle Dove (Streptopelia turtur, Τρυγόνι), Sand Martin (Riparia riparia, Οχθοχελίδονο), Barn Swallow (Hirundo rustica, Σταβλοχελίδονο), Common House Martin (Delichon urbicum, Λευκοχελίδονο), Redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus, Φοινίκουρος), Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus, Καλαμοποταμίδα), Great Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus arundinaceus, Τσιχλοποταμίδα), Icterine Warbler (Hippolais icterina, Κιτρινοστριτσίδα), Garden Warbler (Sylvia borin, Κηποτσιροβάκος), Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata, Σταχτομυγοχάφτης), Spanish Sparrow (Passer hispaniolensis, Χωραφοσπουργίτης)
