Spring 2017, Day 9 of bird ringing
A strange combination of species today! Winter birds still dominant but with a small influx of Ficedula flycatchers. The bird of the day was a Common Firecrest (Regulus ignicapilla, Πυροβασιλίσκος) a species extremely rare during the spring season! Eastern Bonelli’s Warbler (Phylloscopus orientalis, Βουνοφυλλοσκόπος), Wood Warbler (Phylloscopus sibilatrix, Δασοφυλλοσκόπος),European Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca, Μαυρομυγοχάφτης) was trapped for the first time today.
The opportunistic nets were set up today, which added 20 birds to our total. More info from the constant effort site at http://www.trektellen.org/count/view/1696/20170403

Bird ringing or bird banding is the connection of a little, separately numbered metal or plastic tag to the leg or wing of a wild bird to empower singular recognizable proof. This aides in monitoring the developments of the bird and its life history.
